Feb 11th 2012,the Central China Normal University (Huazhong) Art Troupe gave a wonderful performance to Edmontonians at Eva O'Howard Theatre as a celebration of the year of dragon and of the CIE being named the Confucius Institute of the Year.
Feb 6-8, the educational delegation of teachers from Shandong of China came to visit Edmonton for the seminar about East of Mountain Project, which involves students and teachers from both parties in a joint project of water research.
Dec 2011, Confucius Institute in Edmonton received agreat honour in Beijing, the Confucius Institute of theYear, which was bestowed by the government of China.
To support Edmonton's winter art activity Ice On Whyte, and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the twinning between Alberta and Heilongjiang Province,the CIE sent 5 teachers to offer a 3-day free Chinese Culture demonstrations to the pubic from January 13, 2012.
The CIE sent a group of teachers to Athabasca Schooland provided the students opportunities of exper-iencing Chinese Traditional Arts.
Invited by the Great Edmonton Seniors Association, CIE sent a group of teachers to give cultural lessons to the seniors.All the attendants had a great time in paper-cutting, Dough art and Chinese knots classes.
The 2011 Student Summer Camp in the CIE hosted 30students from Edmonton Public Schools.Various Cultureand language classes were offered.

Students from Edmonton Public Schools attended the Summer Camp culture courses in CIE. They learned Chinese dance, Calligraphy, Taiji, Papercutting and a lot about traditional art of China. They had a wonderful experience here.
CIE held the 3rd Chinese Bridge Competition Awarding Ceremony.
CIE welcomed 40 students from a Cathalic school 300 miles away and provided various culture experiencing courses to them.
